COVID-19 ALERT

2020-2023 Multi-Year Budget Update

On January 30, City Council's Strategic Priorities and Policy Committee (SPPC) voted to adopt the 2020-2023 Multi-Year Operating Budget for the London Public Library as well as the Library's 2020-2023 Multi-Year Capital Budget and the 2024-2029 Multi-Year Capital Forecast. You can find these budget documents here.

On January 30, the SPPC also reviewed London Public Library's Potential Reduction Business Cases, which were submitted at the direction of City Council.

All four of London Public Library's Potential Reduction Business Cases were adopted:
  • The forgiveness of our promissory note to the City of London.
  • Funding for gradual security enhancements; a planned staffing increase and our Wi-Fi hotspot lending program will NOT be included in our 2020-2023 Multi-Year Budget.
We will now look at other options for these business cases.

Upcoming:

London Public Library's Additional Investment Business Case (#20) will be discussed at a February SPCC budget meeting.

The final 2020-2023 Multi-Year Budget approval is scheduled for the March 2, 2020 Council Meeting. Until then, all motions are potentially subject to reconsideration.

Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending Service:

Public Wi-Fi access will continue to be available for free at all London Public Library locations. This was never considered as a potential budget reduction.

Our Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending service remains available and holds can continue to be placed. We will be looking at options that will allow us to continue to offer this service.

If you are interested in learning more about financially supporting Wi-Fi Hotspot Lending or other London Public Library priority needs, our Fund Development staff would be happy to provide you with more information.
